At Wybunbury Delves CE Primary School, we are committed to supporting the positive mental health and wellbeing of our whole school community (children, staff, parents and carers). We recognise that mental health and emotional wellbeing is just as important to our lives as physical health.

We are an inclusive school; we welcome and celebrate diversity. High self-esteem is crucial to a child's well-being; our team strives to support all children to meet their potential in our school. Taking a small amount of time out of each day to relax and be mindful can drastically improve our wellbeing.

In school, we have a designator Mental Health First Aider and Lead — Miss Welch

At school we:

  • Help children to gain an understanding of their emotions
  • Help children to feel comfortable to share their feelings and worries
  • Help children to develop and maintain friendships
  • Promote individuality and build self-esteem
  • Help children to develop resilience in the face of adversity

In our school, we aim to:

  • Promote a positive outlook regarding pupils with SEMH difficulties.
    -Eliminate prejudice towards pupils with SEMH difficulties.
  • Promote equal opportunities for pupils with SEMH difficulties.
  • Ensure all pupils with SEMH difficulties are identified and appropriately supported — minimising the risk of SEMH difficulties escalating into physical harm.

In school, we teach about mental health and wellbeing through curriculum subjects such as:

  • PSHE
  • RSE
  • Counselling
  • Positive classroom management
  • Developing pupils' social skills
  • Working with parents
  • Peer support
  • Mindful Monday activities
