It's the end of our first week back, and we have started as we mean to go on — working hard, trying our best and having fun along the way.

In English, we learnt new vocabulary and gathered our ideas before writing a fantastic description of the rainforest. Your use of alliteration, similes, metaphors and noun phrases brought the jungle alive for the reader. Well done. In Maths, we have been using our knowledge of decimals to figure out word problems and we have been recapping our knowledge of multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000.

Our afternoons have been busy as always. We have continued with our swimming lessons and completed the next section in our RE topic on the Holy Spirit. On Tuesday, Miss Lake came in and you gathered your own information about life cycles; you were able to choose a creature of your choice and use the internet to gather research about its life cycle. Next, you went on to learn about the different biomes of the world. On Thursday (although it was the morning and not the afternoon), we had our second John Muir Award session. This time we were learning all about bees. We played games and learnt about the importance of maintaining their natural habitats. Finally, on Friday we played our favourite French greetings game and built on this by learning how to ask what someone's name is and how to reply. Friday was also Team Lewis Football Fundraising Day. Some of us took part in a match against Year 6, and even though we didn't win, you were a fantastic team. You played well and your sportsmanship was incredible; those of us that didn't play cheered on from the side lines and enjoyed every minute of it.

Have a lovely weekend everyone,

Miss P
