Happy half term Year 2!

Home » News » Year 1 news!

What a lovely way to finish our first half term together. Today Year 2 shared their worship with parents and the school. We chose kindness from our fruits of the spirit because in the words of Ruby "we are a kind class." I was very proud of how clearly you all spoke and how the message of kindness was spread through your words, singing and actions. We spent some time this week carrying out random acts of kindness and we shared this video as part of our worship. I had a huge smile on my face all of the way through. Well done Year 2. Thank you to everyone who came to watch us today.

This week we have finished our science unit and we put our knowledge of materials to the test when creating our superhero capes. You all worked so well in your little teams and there was lots on science vocabulary going on to decide on what materials you were using and why. Thank you for bringing in materials from home.

In our geography lessons, we have continued our learning about the UK, the countries and the capital cities. What can you remember about the UK? You impressed Mrs Chesters' with all of your facts. We even tried some oatcakes from Scotland. Did you like them?!

In our art lessons, we learnt more about Roy Lichtenstein and you followed the style of Roy's work to create your own portrait work. You also used the watercolours when painting your UK map. This work will all form parts of our study work pages.

In our computing lessons, you worked incredibly hard on the iPads to create your own comic page! These were so impressive. You took photos, cut out the background, added background choices, added text and stickers to create a comic page story.

A big thank you to Mrs Clinton for working so hard with you all on your sewing projects. You have enjoyed your sewing time so much and you are proud to see your hard work on our displays. Your masks look brilliant.

And after all of that, you came in today dressed in your colours of light to celebrate Pumpkin Heroes and God's light shining through each and every one of us. Thank you for making such a fantastic effort with your pumpkins and outfits.

What a busy week! I think after all of that, we all deserve a well deserved break! Have a wonderful half term.

Miss McCurrie
