Stars inY6
Another superb week of focused learning in Y6. Well done.
Ratio has been our focus during maths lessons this week. We have simplified and divided ratios and will continue with this concept next week.
Now our descriptive writing is complete, we have moved onto letter writing. Mother Earth is writing to us feeling disrespected and vulnerable. She writes saying this is our last chance to save her from destruction and tells us that our actions have consequences! She asks us if we have a heart — and if we even care? Our writing has begun with an opening paragraph ensuring our voice can be heard throughout.
During book club, our focus has been on revisiting a SAT paper from 2016. We have compared our skills to last week and discussed the changes we made. We have also analysed the language used in a piece of courtroom text. Identifying unfamiliar words and phrases and understanding the use of emotive language.
We began a new computing unit this week in coding. We used a programme called Hour of Code. This is free to download and can be accessed from home. Star Wars, Minecraft and Frozen were favourites of ours. This created a wonderful learning buzz in our classroom.
Interfaith week has played a big part in our week. We have focused on Hinduism and the way Hindus show love in their faith. We produced two wonderful pieces of artwork ready to be displayed.
Our spelling focus has been root words and their meanings. New homework has been set and will be reviewed next Friday.
Our Y4 challenge on TT Rocks Stars ended with an overwhelming victory. We earned over 40,000 points as a class. Well done Y6. Mr Dale and Y5 have now challenged our class to a weekend battle, it begins today at 4pm and ends on Monday at 9am. C'mon Year 6, we can do it!
Have a brilliant weekend. You are all stars.
