Namaste, shalom, marhaba and hello from Reception.

This week we have been celebrating 'Interfaith Harmony Week.' which explores the links between the three monotheistic faiths and all the world's religions. We have thought about the shared values of "Love of God or love of the good and love of the neighbour and how we show this in our daily lives to promote harmony and tolerance to others.

In response to our discussion we have created several pieces of art on canvas to reflect our ideas. After drawing our ideas, we painted a base layer and then added a textured top layer of paint using a glue spreader giving it a 3D realistic effect. Reception, these look absolutely stunning!

In our number work we have been ordering numbers 1-20 and working out 1 less or 1 more than a given number. We are getting quite quick with our number recall and facts now. Using 'The Big Number Song' we are counting up to 100 and recognizing that there is a pattern to numbers.

We are starting to become storytellers in our literacy work. So that we have great ideas for writing stories we have been telling stories with myself scribing and then acting them out, thinking about characters and what happens in the story. This has led to some independent writing and created a wonderful buzz about storytelling.

Excitingly, we have had some Jurassic fossils to explore and what is believed to be a dinosaur egg! We have looked up what fossils are made from and made observational drawings of them. Our garden too has produced some wonderful opportunities to explore the world around us as we have discovered unusual shaped and textured ice. Some think it looks like a dinosaurs tooth.
