Welcome back to a new half term of PE.
This half term and Spring 1, in the New Year, will revolve around dance, gymnastics and health related fitness.
In the run up to Christmas, Year 1 are learning dance based on animals to the music 'I'm the King of the Swingers' from Jungle Book. They had a great start this week, moving like elephants, chimpanzees, tigers and snakes, to a count of four, in time with the music.
Year 2 are starting a gymnastics unit based on balances, spins and travelling around, on and off apparatus. We saw some fantastic short sequences this week.
Year 3 began their Egyptian dance unit to 'Walk Like an Egyptian' by the Bangles. They learned three new moves, performed to a count of four and began choreographing the beginning of a dance.
Year 4 have made a good start to their Harry Potter dance to the theme music from the films. They started their first day at Hogwarts and completed a classroom scene with movements to a count of two.
Year 5 worked very hard at the start of their Health Related Fitness unit. They completed a 5 minute shuttle run, logging their laps and performed a flexion test. These will be repeated at the end of the unit so that the children can compare their results.
Year 6 began their WW2 dance unit by starting to learn the Waltz. After they had recovered from the initial shock, horror of having to dance with a partner, they quickly got to grips with the box step in hold and looked fantastic dancing together.

Just a quick reminder that PE kits need to be in school all week. There are still children without kits every week.

Have a lovely weekend.
