As our first half term ends, year 6 should be feeling very proud of their achievements. I am!

In Maths, we recapped short and long division methods including dividing decimals. We finished our week with our addition, subtraction, multiplication and division assessment.

In English this week, we began by planning newspaper articles based on the Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf. We used a video clip for the Guardian Newspaper for our stimulus. We will complete these during our first week back and then go onto story writing using a book called, Eco Wolf and the Three Little Pigs. This story fits in well with Exodus, our class read, as our focus will be on global warming.

We continued with our Science unit this week, Evolution and Inheritance. We measured different beak sizes to understand more about variation, particularly from a study on the Galapagos' brown finches. We then went on to make the smallest and biggest beaks out of lollipop sticks. We used these beaks to complete an experiment investigating food intake.

Y6 created a lovely feel to the New Starters service this week. All descriptions shared were with emotion and care. Thank you Y6, we received a tub of celebrations as a thank you from Mrs Taylor, and we have enjoyed them during our end of day story time.

Well done Y6 you battled against Y5 on Times Tables Rock Stars and experienced an overwhelming success.

We completed our Friday tests today, discussed, and marked our SpaG homework including Spag.com.

Have a lovely break and stay safe.
Mrs B.
